Understanding Leadership Style Preferences
Years of rigorous psychology research have identified five stable elements of personality that constitute an individual’s unchanging core. Along with a person’s values, these “Big Five” dimensions determine “what comes naturally.” BST’s Leadership Forecast Tool is a predictive, self-perception inventory of personal leadership style preferences that enables an individual to know and understands these elements and how they operate when he or she is “on automatic.”
Used in combination with Leadership Coaching, the Leadership Forecast Tool helps both the leader and the coach understand what motivates the leader’s behavior and decision-making so that he or she can build on personal strengths and compensate for constraints.
The data from the Leadership Forecast Tool is shared only between the coach and the leader. The confidential report and analysis provide:
- Validated, norm-based understanding of one’s style preferences, strengths and development needs
- Self-perception data that the individual takes seriously
- Acknowledgement of the style, personality, and values aspects of leadership (as compared with the Leadership Assessment, which focuses more on behavioral best practices)
- An understanding of personal motivation and natural inclination
- A mechanism to focus development and coaching plans on what to change and how to change it
